Yeah, they do. I think it's called Chronic Wasting Disease? It's really freaky.
I remember seeing a vid of such a deer with Bloodborne music over it.

The many cycles of constant, unfair death and reawakening sure gives their name of "Survivor" more weight than one might think, but never above the weight of agony and despair they carry (probably, the game's not that explicit about slugcat emotions).
